Members are encouraged to participate in community service and philanthropy opportunities presented by our chapter. PIKE believes that a commitment to service is a crucial part of personal development. At the Gamma Upsilon chapter we support several different organizations throughout the year. This past year we logged over 3500 hours serving our community! Click on a link below to learn more about a cause we support:
Over this past year we have helped organize, set-up, and execute several different events with these organizations. Events include the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimers on TU's Campus, "Old Bags Luncheon" and "Cycle for Life" to raise money for Crosstown Learning Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation respectively, Big Brothers Big Sisters Halloween party at the PIKE house and Ice Skating event with ladies of the Chi Omega, and several more!
PIKE Philanthropy Week - Relay for Life
This year, we worked in part with the American Cancer society to raise money for cancer research, patient support and greater awareness about cancer prevention. Our philanthropy was chosen in to help do our part in bringing an end to the world's battle with cancer in honor of brother Tanner Huddleston who recently defeated acute myeloid leukemia!
From the 25th to the 29th of March, we raised money by selling raffle tickets, holding a catered dinner and capped off the week with our "Relay for Life" event. This event featured a petting zoo, PIKE dunk tank, various food trucks, a caricature artist, live performances by The Chunky Monkeys, and the crowd favorite Pie-a-PIKE event. In these few short days we were able to raise over $3000 in support of the American Cancer Society. This brings the total of philanthropic funds raised for the 2017-2018 year to over $208,000!!
