Community Engagement
Members are encouraged to participate in community service and philanthropy opportunities presented by our chapter. PIKE believes that a commitment to service is a crucial part of personal development. At the Gamma Upsilon chapter we support several different organizations throughout the year. This past year we logged over 2000 hours serving our community! Click on a link below to learn more about a cause we support:
Alzheimer's Association - Oklahoma Chapter
American Cancer Society Oklahoma
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma
Crosstown Learning Center Tulsa
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Sooner Tulsa Chapter
Over this past year we have helped organize, set-up, and execute several different events with these organizations. Standalone events include the Tulsa Country Club "Old Bags Luncheon" and "Cycle for Life" to raise money for Crosstown Learning Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation respectively, Big Brothers Big Sisters Halloween party at the PIKE house, an Easter egg hunt at Kendall Whittier Elementary with the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta, an Up with Trees revitalization project, and several more!
PIKE Philanthropy Week - Relay for Life
This year, we worked in part with the American Cancer society to raise money for cancer research, patient support and greater awareness about cancer prevention. Our philanthropy was chosen in to help do our part in bringing an end to the world's battle with cancer in honor of brother Tanner Huddleston who recently defeated acute myeloid leukemia!
Our "PikeFest" Philanthropy Week runs from the 25th to the 29th of March where we raise money for American Cancer Society by selling raffle tickets, holding a catered dinner, hosting the crowd favorite Pie-a-PIKE event, and cap off the week with our "Porching For Hope" event. Through our philanthropy week efforts and other events supporting ACS, we were able to raise $8133 in support of the American Cancer Society. This brings our total philanthropic funds raised for the 2019-2020 year to over $201,300!!
